Satisfactory book for programming learning.

I wrote a very unhappy review, as I was beginning this class. With no programming background, I had a very difficult time following the material. However, as I have become more comfortable with the material, I'm becoming a lot more happy with the book.
The font is very small (and I have very good eyes). The color/texture of the paper combined with the color of the ink, and size and font of the letters, makes it very uncomfortable to read. Also, the binding makes it very difficult to keep the book open if you don't hold it with both hands, and it's exceedingly difficult to hold it with two hands while typing complicated strings of programming code into a computer. Should have been spiral binding, or something. I hope the publisher improves these in future editions.

Highly recommended to all my students and a valuable summary of the state-of-the art in C# programming.

This book continues the Wrox tradition of books, that teach programming in a step-by-step manner, which started in 2002. It is written in easy-to-understand English, which makes it ideal for my students. It has a very interesting table-of-content, that fo example shows cloud programming before ADO.NET. Entity Framework, for which there is no up-to-date book at the moment, is also covered. Obviously the books was written beginning with a blank page and C# 6 from the start which makes it outstanding compared to books that are refurbished every 2nd year. And it is slim compared to many other books. I read only a few chapters, so it's to early to know about errata issues.

a great introduction to C# but not the last beginners C# book you'll read.

There're many aspects that are great in this book but the more the book progress it becomes less clear specially ideas like Covariance and Contravariance are explained poorly, even now with extensive C++ experience I don't understand why do we even need Contravariance.
the exercises on the book are way too simplistic thought they provide in the appendix section and on the site downloadable code(though I typed all of the ex.) some ideas are explained great like an approach to explain oop first and then to apply it all that was pretty nice (but done in several books) it's very good for those who start to grasp programming concepts and go to each example well.
it completely miss the power of generics( the C# way of doing templates) which is a major thing in data structures. I wish it would've go to more details, explaining why specially on the more advanced things.
i would say it is great for you if you're new to programming and that's your very first book , it's a very nice appetizer and not intimidating book but on some things I simply had to open MSDN and check what it really offers which is a bit a disappointing.
buy this book but understand that's not where the train stop, you'll get a great introduction to C# but not to the extent of going off with far more advanced books (effective C#)
